Trustees
The Trustees elected by the members are the directors for the purposes of company law. Suzy Drohan chairs the Board of Trustees and the Treasurer is Nasreen Hussain.
Suzy Drohan offers over 20 years of welfare benefits expertise, including tribunal representation, and significant experience as a senior caseworker. She lives locally and spent her childhood in Rose Hill. She has volunteer committee experience, including fundraising and she brings operational knowledge of the advice sector.
Nasreen Hussain is a qualified accountant and a former finance director. She has over 30 years of experience working with housing associations. In addition to Finance, she has experience in governance and risk management. She is keen to use her skills to make a difference.
The other current Trustees are Alice Lawhead, Shereen Karmali, Margaret Wareing, Janice Pullen, Sue Stewart and Sue Tanner.
Alice Lawhead represents St. Mary’s Church, Iffley, on the board. She has a background in writing and publishing, and has served on various international and local charity boards including Rose Hill Community Cupboard, Gatehouse and Street Pastors, as well as volunteering with those organisations.
Shereen Karmali has been volunteering on reception at the advice centre since 2018. She’s a former Chair of Oxfordshire County Council and has been on the governing bodies of several local schools and charities. She was for many years an editor in charitable and academic publishing.
Margaret Wareing is retired and has lived in Littlemore for over twenty years. Her background is in Social Work and Education, with particular interests in disability and domestic abuse. She has been a school governor and a volunteer for a number of charities and is committed to combatting poverty.
Jan Pullen volunteers on several groups in Littlemore, which includes the Health and Well-Being group and the board of the Littlemore Action Partnership. Her background is in scientific research including the development of new diagnostic methods for Tuberculosis and complex disease genetics. She has lived in Littlemore for 33 years and is keen to be involved in projects that address disadvantaged residents and those living in poverty.
Sue Stewart has lived in Littlemore for nearly 30 years. Her experience in advice work includes working for a national newspaper, an employee assistance provider and Oxford Citizens’ Advice Bureau. She has served as a district councillor in West Oxfordshire and until recently as a parish councillor in Littlemore.
Sue Tanner was one of the founders of the Advice Centre in 1989 and has been on the Board of Trustees ever since. Her background is in Human Resources with Oxfordshire County Council but, earlier in her career, she was a Benefits Adviser in London.
The City Council representatives are Cllr Ed Turner (Rose Hill and Iffley) and Cllr Tiago Corais (Littlemore).
